Can music make wine taste better? Some studies say our taste buds are influenced by pleasurable surroundings, and who are we to argue with science?

Join three nights of Wine & Music Conversations with local artists as we go behind the scenes. Host Trey Busch, music-lover turned winemaker/owner of Sleight of Hand Cellars, interviews some of his local faves to find out what inspires them to make beautiful music.

Immediately following, enjoy a live concert from a headlining artist. Oh, and be sure to have your glass of Washington wine nearby!

Wednesday, May 19

5:30 – 6:30 pm: Wine & Music Conversations with Trey Busch and Tomo Nakayama
6:30 – 7:00 pm: Headliner Concert with LeRoy Bell

Trey Busch, Host

Sleight of Hand Cellars

Trey remembers his first concert like it was yesterday. His love of music is one of the reasons he ended up in the Pacific NW. After moving to Seattle in 1992 and working for Nordstrom for eight years, Trey received the chance to move to Walla Walla and join the wine business with the Dunham Cellars family. Trey fell in love with winemaking which led him to Sleight of Hand Cellars, named “The Next Generation” of up-and-coming wineries in Washington state by Seattle Magazine.

Tomo Nakayama

Musical Artist

Born in Japan and raised in Seattle, Washington, Tomo Nakayama is an artist whose melodic and emotionally compelling music has been praised by NPR, New York Times, and The Stranger. After two critically acclaimed indie-folk albums, he released the synthpop album “Melonday”. “Melonday” was named one of the Top Albums of 2020 by Seattle Times, KEXP, and Seattle Met, and debuted at #1 on KEXP’s NW Charts. An active, longtime member of the Seattle music and arts community, Tomo has also curated and produced various events for Forterra and Town Hall, where he also served as Artist in Residence.

LeRoy Bell

Musical Artist

LeRoy Bell is a renowned soul/R&B singer and songwriter. He has released records with duo Belle and James as well as a string of solo albums and has carved a career as a hit songwriter for the likes of Elton John, Jennifer Lopez and Teddy Pendergrass. Most recently he teamed up with legendary guitarist G.E. Smith to release the album Stony Hill this past August, receiving glowing reviews from Rolling Stone. LeRoy has also appeared on XFactor USA (2011), and as part of LeRoy Bell and His Only Friends, has had the pleasure to tour with Van Morrison, Sheryl Crow, and Steve Miller, and many others.
