Can music make wine taste better? Some studies say our taste buds are influenced by pleasurable surroundings, and who are we to argue with science? Either way, we have some fun conversations and sounds coming your way over two nights of tune-in fun.

Join three nights of Wine & Music Conversations with local artists as we get to go behind the scenes. Host Trey Busch, music-lover turned winemaker/owner of Sleight of Hands Cellars, interviews some of his local faves to find out what inspires them to make beautiful music.

Immediately following, enjoy a live concert from a headlining artist. Oh, and be sure to have your glass of Washington wine nearby!

Thursday, May 20

5:30 – 6:30 pm: Wine & Music Conversations with Trey Busch and Carrie M. Akre
6:30 – 7:00 pm: Headliner Concert with Stephanie Ann Johnson

Trey Busch, Host

Sleight of Hand Cellars

Trey remembers his first concert like it was yesterday. His love of music is one of the reasons he ended up in the Pacific NW. After moving to Seattle in 1992 and working for Nordstrom for eight years, Trey received the chance to move to Walla Walla and join the wine business with the Dunham Cellars family. Trey fell in love with winemaking which led him to Sleight of Hand Cellars, named “The Next Generation” of up-and-coming wineries in Washington state by Seattle Magazine.

Carrie M. Akre

Musical Artist

Carrie M. Akre is an American musician best known as the frontwoman and heart-center of well-known 90s Seattle underground bands Hammerbox and Goodness. She has contributed vocals to the project band The Rockfords with Mike McCready of Pearl Jam as well as releasing four solo records. Carrie releases albums on her own label, My Way Records. She has taught music and performance classes as well as working as an Intuitive Life Coach working with creatives and folks at the crossroads of midlife, helping them remember they are authentic selves to make change.

Stephanie Ann Johnson

Musical Artist

Stephanie Ann Johnson is the front person for the country soul Tacoma-based band, The Hidogs. The Hidogs’ prowess exudes whether they are singing the Black national anthem, wowing judges on the TV series The Voice, or cooing acoustic lullabies to Saturday night tavern regulars.
The group’s latest LP, Take This Love, is a blend of Loretta Lynn and Valerie June. Stephanie Anne Johnson has opened for acts including Bernie Sanders, and artists such as Mavis Staples, Chaka Khan, and Ani DiFranco.
